La Renjardière Côtes du Rhône 2023

This clear medium purple colored Cotes du Rhone is a red blend of Mourvedre, Cinsault, Syrah and Grenache. It opens with aromas of red cherry, strawberry, bramble, leather, and nutmeg notes. Fresh and smooth on the palate, it is medium bodied with moderately acidic. The mouthfeel is a bit rustic, but approachable. The flavors include red plum, dark cherry, clove, oak, and licorice, with notes of blackberry, tobacco, and black pepper. Grippy tannins on the moderate finish are slightly bitter. It benefits from 20-30 minutes of exposure to air, and with patience, comes together nicely. This wine is best with food and would go well with a homemade backyard grilled burger.
